I've fitted bubblewrap to the windows in our two coldest rooms - our bedroom and the spare room, to insulate them better. (The photo is not mine!)
Today's baking was apple crumble and jammy buns, in the oven at the same time to save on energy. My apple crumble recipe is so easy, 3 apples, 2 tbsp caster sugar for filling, then for the topping 175g plain flour, 110g caster sugar, 110g butter. Chop the apples and stir in the sugar. Rub the flour, sugar and butter between your fingers til they are a breadcrumb texture. Pop in the oven at 190 degrees for 40 minutes.
My daughter's helping of apple crumble! She loves it. The custard was Asda instant custard sachet for 15p. My brother actually gave me these apples for free so this dessert was made for pennies!
Stuck to the meal plan and had sausage, mash and beans for tea which is a very cheap meal. Sausages work out to 10p each - they were on offer in Iceland a couple of weeks ago, potatoes very cheap and a tin of beans 25p Lidl. A successful Sunday baking xx
