After living a quite austere life since my daughter was born (due to a large drop in income) I was able to save for our house deposit, and then also our wedding.
My saving goals at the moment are largely concerning things that I wish to achieve this year. I swear, I never make it easy for myself!! A new (second hand) car for me, a new bed for my daughter as her current one has been broken for over a year and has a stack of books underneath it holding it up (!), a summer weekend break, a holiday later in the year to visit friends, and the usual savings for birthdays and dreaded Christmas!
I'm not sure how I'm going to do it...other than having less money going out, and more money coming in! I've got items for sale on eBay and Gumtree at the moment, desperate to do a car boot sale once the weather is better, have been brainstorming money making ideas, reducing bills, researching recipes and changing my supermarket to try and achieve this.
But then...I also have my debt to get rid of!! It's going to be tough, but I am looking forward to having more fun this year, learning to enjoy the simplicity of getting off the consumer treadmill.
I think it's all about what you deem to be important. Holidays are important to me and I have missed having them. I want to take my daughter on her first holiday, I know she will absolutely love it. Having a car is so important to me too because I have really struggled without one.
Looking forward to the challenge!! xx
